Building a better Ulster County Real Estate Website
I, like many real estate professionals, keep an on going notebook of ideas that I can add to whenever one pops into my head. The way I do it is with the “Notes” feature in Microsoft Outlook. Since these notes can be synced up with most hand held devices, it is a good way to get the idea down before it escapes even if I am away from my computer.
While perusing my plethora of digital sticky notes looking for a blog idea, I noticed most of my notes where on how to make our website better. As of late, it is our plan to upgrade our website in the upcoming months and I thought it would be a good idea to ask our users what they wanted to see on the NutshellRealty.com website.
So if you are a website user or you are looking for a good Ulster County Real Estate website, please leave a comment and let us know how to better serve you.

My suggestion would be to tighten up your email inquiry process. Your listings are great but I’ve ha it happen several times where I click on “send a message” and get no reply.
Additionally, if you’re “wishlisting” I’d put in a feature where prospects could not just highlight town names on a pull-down, but also highlight them on a map. Great for looking in a general area. A less expensive engine to have built might be to allow the option “tow name” (e.g. Woodstock) and then select a radius around that town of 2, 5, 10 or more miles. Not everyone wants to highlight town by town, although I’m sure some do. It’s about offering more search options.

Good Stuff Maria,
I looked up your account information and found a problem with your assignment (you were assigned to an agent that left). I have since fixed the problem and you will be attended to quickly and professionally. I apologize for the mixup.
Map Idea: This is a really good idea that we have been considering for quite some time but wasn’t sure if our customers get a lot of use out of it. This seals it, we are putting the map on our list. Thanks for the comment.

Please keep me on your email list! I wonder if it would be too much trouble to be able to search by properties that are zoned for agricultural use? When my husband and I do move, we hope to find property where I can raise livestock and crops. Knowing right away if a property will allow this would be a big help. Thanks!

Amy,
That would be tricky. The best way to find a property fitting that criteria is to utilize the services of a REALTOR. I do know that an auto-notification could be setup to email you properties fitting your requirements as soon as they come on the market.
Can I set that up for you today?

I would like to be able to sort by ON WATER or water front etc. doesn’t matter, lake, river, stream etc.
Keep me on your mailing list, thanks.

Amanda,
Great tip, we will add it to our list.
For now we have a link on the home page that will show you water properties. Alternatively, at the search page, you can click on the search by MLS or Keyword tab and enter those keywords using commas.

Have an account log in and user ID update so you can log in and access you favorites from different computers as well as update your info for your realtor. (If this exsists I can’t find it) so improve navigation as well. Might want to check your competitors (edited) and (edited). I tend to search on their sites and submit the MLS# to my agent. I agree with the post regarding radius or surrounding towns would be helpful. If you request info on one of your favorites that page should be updated rather than receive a separate link email. It would help manage ones search by keeping information in one place. Also to be able to expand slightly outside of ulster into western Dutchess, northern Orange.
Thanks,
-tb

Tom,
Thank you so much for your feedback. Most people are busy these days and I appreciate you taking the time to post your comments.
Our login does need a little help. Right now, you can only see your favorites from the computer you used to save the favorite . . . not good. We will definitely address that in our upgrade, thanks for pointing it out.
You are also right in that it would be better to manage all your search info and favorites from one place.
As far as searching outside Ulster, we would have to add other MLS systems to our website (which might be a good thing). I will talk this out with the powers to be.
Thanks again for your feedback.
